MBABANE- In the second place!
Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo’s tour at the Elangeni Milling revealed that the company ranked second place in terms of quality and markets in the country.
The tour was today at the milling which is based at Nhlambeni, in the Manzini Region.
Elangeni Milling was established in 2016 and currently employs 36 emaSwati. It is said that the company will soon be expanding its operations in the country.
The minister said the objective of Elangeni Milling aligned well with the key pillars of government in far as combating food insecurity is concerned.
“Having been operating in the country for these years, it has befitted the company to expand its footprint in the milling industry focusing primarily on Wheat Flour Meal. This aligns well with the Government Strategic Roadmap for revitalising the economy through increasing re-investments and expansion in the country,” he said.
Khumalo also said this was an existential diversification opportunity that had arose as a spinoff from big projects that his ministry, through its designated institutions, had facilitated including the likes of Kellogg Tolaram Eswatini (Pty) Ltd who were using high volumes of Flour.
“We are quite aware of the supply constraints currently experienced by the local industry and we believe that building the productive capacity for wheat milling is beneficial to the country. The increase of the milling capacity also signals the need for backward cultivation and supply for wheat in the country.”
Elangeni Milling CEO Marthinus Van Dyk said they thought Eswatini was an excellent country to invest in.
“We are looking forward to expanding our business, so that we can build our country and create food security, not only for us, but also for our neighbours wherever we can one day export our products,” said the CEO.
