MBABANE – The Government will disburse the July elderly and disability grants tomorrow.

This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office through a statement issued by the Principal Secretary in the Deputy Prime Minister’s (DPM) Office, Melusi Masuku.

He announced that beneficiaries of government grants would receive them through MTN Mobile Money (MoMo).

The beneficiaries include people above the age of 60 years and those living with disabilities.

Elderly people are entitled to E500 per month while those with disabilities receive E280.

“The DPM’s Office would like to notify senior citizens and those with disabilities, who are beneficiaries of the elderly and disability grant that they will receive their grant, via MTN Mobile Money as usual on Friday, August 4, 2023 (tomorrow),” he said.

Those who receive their grants through commercial banks have already been paid. Worth noting, there were no hiccups encountered by those who received their grants through banks.

During May, there were challenges with paying those who received grants through banks. These grants are normally received on the 20th of each month.

The monthly payment of the grant started at the end of February this year. Before the introduction of the monthly payment system, the elderly grants were paid in three-month intervals, where the beneficiaries received E1500 through a partnership with Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC) and MTN MoMo. Meanwhile, those who get paid through the banks receive E500 monthly.
