MBABANE – The Bruce Gama Diabetes with Sports Foundation (BDGS) has partnered with Elite Catering to host the highly anticipated Tennis Showdown BDGS Open at the University of Eswatini Kwaluseni campus courts on May 25th and 26th, 2024 (Saturday and Sunday).
Speaking to this publication, the founder of the Bruce Gama Diabetes with Sports Foundation, former national tennis player Bruce Game highlighted that they want to raise awareness about diabetes and the importance of physical fitness to the people living with diabetes.
“I’ve lived with diabetes for the past 16 years and I am still able to play. Keeping your body active helps in blood circulation because diabetes usually kills the sensitivity in your body,” he said.
The event’s schedule will run from 8:30am8:30 am until 5pm on both days, featuring thrilling matches and engaging activities for participants and spectators alike.
Interested players are encouraged to register before the May 24th deadline at 6:00pm. Registration fees are set at E100 for singles and E50 for doubles, with categories including men’s singles, women’s singles, and men’s doubles.
This exciting two-day tournament aims to foster relationships between tennis players and individuals living with diabetes while raising awareness about the importance of physical fitness in managing the condition.
