EMCU ADMITTING FIRST ‘DOCTORS’

MBABANE – Eswatini Medical Christian University (EMCU) has embarked on a historic journey by admitting its first batch of medical students.

EMCU has officially released a statement inviting applications for its newly accredited Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree program. According to the statement, interested candidates must meet the required qualifications for admission into the MBBS program, which has been approved by the Eswatini Higher Education Council (ESHEC).

EMCU has outlined strict entry requirements for prospective students applying for admission into the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program. These requirements include six credits at B grade (709) or better in Advanced Level, Advanced Subsidiary Level, International Baccalaureate, or equivalent, in the subjects of Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry, with a minimum C grade in English language being acceptable. In addition, applicants must attain a B grade or better in any two of the following subjects: Physics, Human and Social Biology, Combined Science, or any other subjects.

It is also mentioned that individuals who possess recognised bachelor’s degrees in specific fields may be eligible for admission into the first year of the MBBS program. These fields include, but are not limited to, Science, Nursing Science, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Radiography, Environmental Health Sciences, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Biotechnology, and other health-related degrees. Such candidates may be directly admitted into the first year of the program, subject to meeting other admission criteria.

EMCU has provided detailed instructions for the application process for the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program. Prospects students should a recommendation letter from a relevant mentor, a graduation certificate from their last school attended, and an academic achievement document from the same institution.

In addition, successful applicants will be subject to interviews and essay writing sessions on a date to be announced later. Finally, applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications through the university’s website or via telephone call.
