MBABANE- The Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) has increased funeral benefits which officially kicked in on January 1, 2023.
This was announced by ENPF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Prince Lonkhokhela. This means people who will die from January 1, 2023, will benefit from the additional cover that comes with the new Siphephelo Free Funeral Benefit regulations.
“For normal death, beneficiaries will receive E7 500 which has been increased from E5 000, and E15 000 for accidental death from E10 000. All contributing members were set to benefit from the funeral benefit,” he said.
In addition, the CEO said they were indeed living their strategy, wherein they identified that, in their strategic period, there should be improvements in the members’ benefits.
Explaining the funeral benefit, he said there was a system which was being used around the world over, known as System Analysis Programme Development (SAP), which ensured that work was done efficiently and productivity was at 100 percent.
Prince Lonkhokhela said relatives of a deceased family member could forward a claim within a validity period of six months following the death.
The CEO stated that efficiency will be monitored, he stated that if the claim had shortcomings, not sent through within the stipulated time the department of ICT would be helping to ensure incompetence.
