MBABANE – The Epic Gig has officially closed applications for the Epic Gig Episode V Brand Ambassadors and chose 21.
The application to be the brand ambassador of the upcoming festival was officially closed on March 31, 2024. This was confirmed by Epic Gig Festival Director Tammy Toxik Dlamini.
However, he shared with this publication that they will only unveil the 21 ambassadors to the public on Friday. The fifth edition of the Epic Gig Festival will be held on June 28–30 at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre.
A brand ambassador works as the public face of a company or brand. Their primary duties include creating awareness about the brand or company.
Dlamini shared that, just like last year, the theme is still the same: #IT’S OK TO BE DIFFERENT! The applicants had to post a short clip telling about themselves and why they deserved the spot and tag Epic Gig. There were no requirements to be part of the ambassadors. Anyone interested could apply, whether plus-size or living with albinism, which speaks to their theme that it’s okay to be who you are.
In a previous interview, Dlamini shared that Eswatini is still conservative, and they are riding on that waggon wave. He also highlighted that they, as a festival, were trying to help the youth stay out of trouble by not putting pressure on them.
According to the festival director, the youth should know it’s okay to be different, like finding yourself under pressure to drink or have sugar daddies. As a festival, they want to promote good social behaviour.
Dlamini came up with the logo two years ago but did not know how to implement it as the world had just come out of the COVID-19 era. According to the festival director, Epic Gig cares about the youth, and they address their challenges by promoting good social behaviour in society.
Last year’s festival saw South African artists like Kwesta, YoungstaCPT,Mlindo the Vocalist, Blxckie Maglera Doe Boi, 25K, A Reece, and Aymos perform. Local artists included Toxik, Rowen The Vth, Fantacy, Tella, Aya City, Bu The Drum, Sir Teazy, Tilungu, Kangaroo, Itsallblaq, Bay Bash, The Bishops,DJExpo,Bisto, and Eimsofy, and many more, including The Freshmen.
