The minister, who is also Ntontozi Member of Parliament, said the addition of new outdoor activities, spas and restaurants to Eswatini’s tourism attractions positions the country as an ideal destination of choice.

He was speaking during the commemoration of World Tourism Day held under the theme; ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth’ at Project Canaan in Sidvokodvo based on its impact on the community and alignment with this year’s theme.

Project Canaan showcased the power of Agri-tourism in empowering the disadvantaged, while offering an inviting experience for domestic and international visitors.

“From this increase in tourism products, we anticipate an increase in the number of days that international visitors will stay in Eswatini and we hope to see more emaSwati booking into local facilities for a minimum of two nights,” the minister said.

He continued: “We devoted the month of September to encouraging national involvement and collective zest in celebrating tourism’s unrivalled ability to drive tangible, accessible and sustainable positive change for the development of various communities.”

Vilakati explained that it was beyond imperative that government magnify another one of its key strategic focus areas which speaks to establishing Eswatini as a healthy and safe destination. It is encouraging to see emaSwati respond swiftly & positively to the vaccination roll-out.”
