MBABANE – They do not call it the Bank of the Nation for nothing.
This was proven this morning (Wednesday, June 12, 2024) when Eswatini Bank announced a sponsorship worth E500 000 for this year’s School Choral Music Competition.
The sponsorship was announced by the Bank’s Managing Director (MD), Nozizwe Mulela, at the launch of the choral schools competition 2024, which was held at Mountain View. In attendance at the launch were the Director of Education in the Ministry of Education and Training Richard Dlamini, Choral Veteran Hugh Magagula, and the Eswatini Schools Choral Music Association Representative Sithembiso Dlamini.
The MD in her speech said, “The sponsorship is an effort that Bank has made to empower and channel the youth for success. Throughout the years, Eswatini Bank has contributed in various ways to ensure that with each year, the competition grows stronger while enriching the participants, who are students, conductors, and local conductors.”
It is worth mentioning that this year’s marks the 19th edition of the School Choral Music Competition.
When reached for comment, the President of the School Culture confirmed that this year’s competition will be held on June 30 at the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) Emporium.
This year’s songs will be themed around Gender-Based Violence (GBV) to create awareness of the escalating cases in the Kingdom. It is worth mentioning that the 2024 vernacular songs will be 100 per cent in SiSwati.
