MBABANE– With the influence of YouTube and Instagram, it is easy to see that the beauty industry is growing fast in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

In 2016, the cosmetic market in the country was barely there with people relying on importing beauty services like lash install, hair install and basic makeup. Fast forward to seven years later, the girlies are all up in the country.

The social media platform Instagram and Facebook currently plays host to over 30 Swati-owned beauty spas, hair studios, and make-up artists. The country also has Makeup Artists like Khosis, Bubu white and others that have since gone international with their studios and services.

This further motivated the likes of Maneliso Vilakati, Phetsile Mamba, Phiwa Jele, and Putseletso to take over the beauty industry by storm.

The above mentioned ladies have in the last month and a year ago launched their own beauty studios that have since played home to over 500 customers in the country.

Sassy hair and beauty studio founder Phetsile Mamba said her institute realised the increase in the demand within this field and that is why she stays on the cutting edge of beauty trends and technology.

“I discovered I have passion for beauty and wanted to afford every girl in the country timeless beauty on a budget,” said Mamba.

In addition she said the beauty industry was currently impressive and it allowed everyone in the country to grow well and make sure that they are offered best.

Another studio owner Malecia Dlamini who runs a hair and install business said she saw a gap in the beauty industry. She said she afforded services to women who want their hair done but are stuck in a meeting or have to take children to school.

“The beauty studios are generally for every woman but mostly the busy woman who wants to look and feel good but does not have time to do it herself,” she said.

Lori Mbhele is one of the most experienced stylists and has been in the beauty industry since high school. Throughout her career, she has attended several educational classes throughout.

She mentioned that beauty in the country was growing and it was interesting to see, she further encouraged women to continue taking up space and starting more and more businesses.
