MBABANE – Eswatini Beverages has made a significant contribution again to road safety by donating pedestrian bollards to the Matsapha Town Board. The donated bollards will be installed along the stretch from the Police Academy to Matangeni, covering a distance of 1.7 kilometres.
According to Doreen Tumureebire, Director of Eswatini Beverages during an interview on Eswatini TV, she highlighted the company’s commitment to community welfare. She noted that this year’s donation builds upon a similar initiative undertaken by the company last year. “Last year we did a similar investment but this year the difference is versus last year we had a stretch of about 800 kilometres and this year we’re having a stretch of 1.7 kilometres in the Matsapha area,” she said.
Makhosi Simelane, the Under Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, expressed optimism about the impact of this donation. He stated that the initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number 11, which focuses on creating safe and sustainable cities.
The Matsapha Town Board CEO, Lucky Sukati, emphasized the importance of the donation, particularly in a stretch heavily used by employees working in local firms. Sukati praised the initiative, stating that it would significantly contribute to reducing accidents involving pedestrians in the area.
Last year Eswatini Beverages donated E270,000 for the installation of pedestrian bollards along 1st St. in Matsapha industrial area. The collaboration between Eswatini Beverages and the Matsapha Town Board underscores the importance of corporate social responsibility and community engagement. This donation is expected to have a positive impact on pedestrian safety, making the roads in Matsapha safer for everyone.
