MBABANE– Committed!

Eswatini Beverages has, once again, shown their unprecedented commitment to road safety by pumping in US$15 000 (about E270 695) to the Matsapha City Council.

The company donated, through their mother body AB InBev Foundation, in line with their mandate to support road safety courses in the country.

According to information that was distributed on Eswatini Beverages through their social media pages, pedestrians are the most vulnerable road users in the Matsapha Industrial area and interventions directed at protecting them have the potential of reducing road traffic accidents including fatalities by more than 50 per cent.

“We have partnered with the Road Safety Council of Eswatini, the Matsapha City Council and the Royal Eswatini Police Services Traffic Department to install pedestrian bollards along 1st Street, covering 800 metres, with the funding of US$15 000 from the AB InBev Foundation,” read the statement.

When sought for comment. Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs Mpumelelo Makhubu said Eswatini Beverages shared the responsibility of road safety with REPS Traffic Department.

“The company is very passionate about road safety and this is mainly because some of our consumers sit behind the wheel after consuming our products. This then, has led to drunken driving accidents.

“Because of this, we have engaged ourselves in many road safety campaigns and we are fully committed in preventing accidents,” said Makhubu.
