MBABANE-Today, the Kingdom of Eswatini has joined the rest of the globe in commemorating World Water Day.
The celebrations will take place at Maguga Dam under the theme ‘Accelerating the change to solve the water and sanitation crisis’.
The Government of Eswatini issued a statement earlier today stating that priority to increase access to potable water supply and improved sanitation issues in line with SDG 6 on ‘Water and Sanitation For All by 2030’ and that everyone had a role to play in ensuring water security.
Sibonginkhosi Shane Maseko, a liSwati man, said in commemoration of this day, he would be playing his part in ensuring water security in Eswatini.
Maseko received a French Scholarship to start his Master’s Degree in Water Management in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso at 2iE- Institut d’International.
The Eswatini scholar will pursue his studies for the next two years and hoped to come and help his country find sustainable ways of ensuring water security. “I am grateful for the scholarship as I will now be able to fulfill my dream and study a course that will be beneficial to all emaSwati and assist in finding ways to ensure water security in our Kingdom,” said Maseko.
