MBABANE—The Eswatini Creativity Platform (ECP) hosted its debut fashion show, which was a great success.
The fashion show was held two weeks ago at Alcon House in Manzini. The event was attended by Prince Bandzile, who sent a representative, Babe Mkhatjwa. Manzini North Member of Parliament (MP) Sifiso Nhlengetfwa. The models walked on the red carpet as they showcased items from local designers, Miss Sonia, Millennium Trend, and Nkosicrotcget.
ECP is an organization that works with different art codes. These include actors, poets, musicians, authors, and dancers, to name a few. The brains behind the organization Nerville Johnson formed in 2018. The objective of the organization is to manage young talents, expose them, develop them, and market them to the outside world.
When reached for comment, the founder of the organization, Nerville Johnson, said, “In October 2023, the organization started a modelling agency after being approached by young girls who wanted to achieve their dreams of becoming models. The journey started with very few members and has grown to more than 40 models currently.”
Johnson went on to say, “One of their models, Sihle Sifundza, got the chance to model in South Africa, while another model, Yandiswa Magagula, competed for Miss Cultural Heritage and managed to take the position of ambassador for the Hhohho region.,” said the founder.
The founder shared with this publication that the aim of the fashion show was to launch the agency as well as the upcoming annual event called the Indigenous African Music Festival and the Africa Day celebration, which is held in May.
The event was successful thanks to its jolly MC, Mpumalanga, the poetess. It was also filled with music and poetry from local artists.
