MANZINI – Eswatini Dairy Board has begun an open training session for dairy cow farmers and those interested in it in the country. The training will go for two weeks and is open to anyone interested.

Eswatini Dairy Board Economist Bandile Mdluli explained that the training is to help farmers learn industry lessons on all aspects of dairy production. “Each week has a different topic. We discuss topics like how do you breed dairy cattle, care for your calves, how to grow feed for your dairy cattle, how to avoid diseases, and how to handle dairy production once dairy is being produced.”

The goal of the training is to promote self-sufficiency in Eswatini dairy production. This is Eswatini Dairy Board’s vision for the country. As such, following the dairy cattle training, Eswatini Board will host another training for farmers interested in raising goats for dairy.

“We’ll be discussing all the different aspects of farming goats for dairy,” added Mdluli.

Mdluli emphasised that the training are open to all members of the public. The training happens at Enguleni House in Manzini on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM each day. “We want farmers and interested people who are otherwise occupied during the day to be able to join the training”, said Mdluli.

Farmers interested in the training are encouraged to call the Eswatini Dairy Board Economist, Bandile Mdluli, at 76624422.
