Eswatini Gospel Music Awards nominees have been unveiled and they include the likes of Nothando Dlamini, Fezile Matsebula, Shekinah Motsa, Manzini Crusaders, Neliswa Dlamini and Christ Heralds. These Gospel artists and groups were chosen by emaSwati through online voting lines.
The Eswatini Gospel Music Awards 2022, themed ‘Ending Femicide’, are set to take place on December 3, 2022 at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre in Manzini.
Prior to the unveiling of the nominees for these awards, emaSwati were encouraged to vote for their favourite Gospel artists under different categories including best Gospel song, best Gospel artist of group, best contemporary Gospel and best Gospel artist or group of all times, to name a few.
According to the Eswatini Gospel Awards website, these awards exist to recognize the accomplishments of the Gospel recording industry in Eswatini by celebrating those groups and individuals who have excelled in the stipulated entry period.
Asked about the idea behind the theme of these awards, Mncobi Tsabedze, Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the Eswatini Gospel Awards, said the theme behind the awards was motivated by the rise of gender-based violence in Eswatini and across the world. This encouraged the organizing team to take a stand through this event, hence the partnering with organizations such as the Eswatini Action Group Against Abuse (SWAGAA).
“We decided to partner with SWAGAA to spread the word through the Christian community and to send the message of ending femicide across the world. This is to encourage emaSwati and the world at large to help in protecting our mothers, sisters, daughters and friends,” said Tsabedze.
The PRO also revealed that more details regarding the performances that would take place during the event would be revealed to the public in due time.
