MBABANE– His Majesty King Mswati III said government prioritised economic growth and service delivery, in order to improve the lives of emaSwati.
He has this while speaking during an Eswatini-Taiwan Investment Forum held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan yesterday.
His Majesty also visited Taoyuan CPC Refinery Plant to see its structure and layout as Eswatini is in the process of constructing a Strategic Oil Reserve and also met with the Vice Chairman of Hun Nan Commercial Bank Tom Lin, who committed the Bank to rolling out an internship programme for emaSwati students graduating in Taiwan tertiary institutions.
“Our government’s priority is to grow and strengthen the economy, ensure service delivery, and help ease the cost of living for emaSwati through these hard economic times being experienced around the world.”
“That is why we are here and purposefully creating a platform and an enabling environment for local and foreign investors in the country between and across the Asia-Africa continents,” said the King.
Addressing chip manufacturing and the semiconductor industry, His Majesty King Mswati III said inputs from the industry had transformed different industries including automotive, energy and cyber-security.
“Africa represents viable opportunities for Taiwan in this growing sector. Eswatini has strategically positioned itself by providing infrastructure through the royal science technology park (RSTP).
“We also have Special Economic Zones for growth in these priority areas, which we are making available for investment opportunities in Eswatini.”
When making an address at Hun Nan Commercial Bank, the Eswatini Head of State said they noted how their bank had been working to see how they developed the financial sector in the Kingdom.
“This is important for us as we are here in Taiwan to not only target manufacturing institutions but also the financial sector. We are in the process of establishing a strong financial sector in the Kingdom and we look to this bank, which has a wealth of experience, to share their experiences as setting up banks can be complicated and competition was high,” said His Majesty.
