MBABANE – A number of organisations in Eswatini have vowed to stand united and join the rest of the world in fighting to end Gender Based Violence (GBV).
This follows the launch of the 2023 16 Days of Activism campaign against GBV by One Billion Rising Solidarity. This campaign started on the 25th of November and it will run until the 10th of December 2023. The theme for this year is ‘Rise for Freedom, Create a New Culture’.
The Coordinator for One Billion Rising Solidarity, Xolani Hlatjwako said that people should stop assuming they own the individuals whom they assist in anyway.
“Men tend to think they have power and control over women whilst in all honesty, there is no man who has power and control over any woman regardless of the type of relationship they have,” said Hlatjwako.
Eswatini Royal Insurance Company (ESRIC) is one of the organisations that support this movement and they aim to empower survivors, challenge stereotypes, and demand justice for all. Liberty Life Eswatini seeks to unite with other organisations in building a world free from violence.
Other Organisations are World Vision Eswatini who calls for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls, Eswatini Housing Board they believe every home should be a sanctuary free from violence, all genders should feel safe and empowered in their homes Eswatini TV to name a few.
