MBABANE – “How do we collaborate in the work of handling the toxic materials in the different machines we use in our different work environments?”
These were the words of the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Khangeziwe Mabuza.
Mabuza was speaking at a workshop held at Emafini Lodge in Ezulwini today. The workshop was held to consult with stakeholders on the development of a policy to regulate toxic materials which result from the use of certain industrial machinery, and how to protect the environment from them.
“As the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, we have been given the responsibility to make sure that stakeholders engage together to determine how to best develop the regulations,” said the PS.
Mabuza also added that it is important for the different stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring that the benefits of technology are harnessed, while the environment and human health are not negatively affected. The Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs is developing the policy with the help of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
