MBABANE – The Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ERIC) has once again sponsored the Eswatini Darts Association – for the 13th year in a row. The presentation of this year’s league prizes and new programs for next season was held today at Happy Valley Hotel.
Speaking during the event, ERIC Marketing Manager Gcebile Simelane remarked that, “we’ve given them a mandate to imagine where the sport is going in the future, especially within the youth. So, we will be able to support them and make sure the sport doesn’t diminish in the country.
Expressing appreciation on behalf of the Eswatini Darts Association was its President Phumlani Ndwandwe. “We’re happy today that their leader has confirmed that they will continue to be with us next year. What is important is to continue our plans, now that we’re post-COVID, to encourage more women to play this sport,” revealed Ndwandwe.
The Eswatini Darts teams have been active for a long time now, and continue to match the competition when representing the country in the sport. During the prize presentation yesterday, the Eswatini Under-25 National Team was recognized for winning the bronze medal in recent competitions in Namibia.
The Eswatini Darts Association plans to encourage more youth to play the sport in the upcoming season, with a particular focus on getting women to play the sport.
