MBABANE – The Kingdom of Eswatini’s social programmes are due for an informed improvement following the completion of an evaluation report on them.
Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku says the findings of a new report on the Performance of National Social Assistance Programmes & Household Welfare in Eswatini “will go a long way in enriching the further development of our national social assistance programmes.”
“The Report has taken stock of the achievements and gaps in our national social assistance programmes that have been implemented over the years. The key findings will contribute significantly to our overall programming of our social protection floor as a country,” said the Deputy Prime Minister during the presentation of the complete report.
“The Kingdom of Eswatini continues to prioritise issues of national assistance programmes. The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, with its partners, has completed the process of reviewing, updating & validating its draft National Social Assistance Policy of 2018.”
“The Policy highlights the five main social assistance programmes in Eswatini which include: the old age grant; disability grant; orphan & vulnerable children educational grant, school feeding; public assistance & neighbourhood care points.”
The research towards the development of the report was supported by the World Bank.
Every functional programme has to be evaluated for it to be improved. It is therefore inspiring to see the completion of this exercise concerning the National Social Assistance Programmes and Household Welfare in Eswatini.
