MBABANE -In a thrilling match, Eswatini senior women’s national team edged out Madagascar 2-1 in their opening match of the Hollywoodbets Women COSAFA Championship.
The match saw Eswatini’s captain, Tenanile Ngcamphalala, score a goal at 46 minutes, with Sikhanyiso Magagula securing the win with a goal at 81 minutes.
Despite a tough first half, Eswatini managed to secure the win thanks to a determined second-half performance. Madagascar had taken the lead at 24 minutes, but Eswatini came back with a vengeance in the second half to secure the victory.
Tenanile Ngcamphalala was named Player of the Match for her outstanding efforts on the field. She expressed her delight at the team’s win, saying that it was an important game to gain confidence going forward in the tournament.
Eswatini’s head coach, Zwelibanzi Khoza, congratulated the team on their hard-fought victory. He acknowledged that the majority of the squad is young and growing with the game, and expressed his optimism for their future success.
