ESWATINI WOMEN’S CHESS TEAM WINS GOLD AT 44TH OLYMPIAD GAMES IN INDIA

INDIA – The Eswatini Women’s Chess Team is bringing back gold from the 44th Chess Olympiad games in Chennai, India.

The team captain Nosimilo Mkhonto was very happy with her team, as she expressed that “we were able to get the gold medal in our category – there were many categories and we conquered ours. We also added the titles we have in Eswatini, as we added two titles during this competition.” Other winners in the competition include Ukraine, Georgia, and India.

Eswatini Sports and Recreational Council Media Officer Dumisane Ntiwane remarked that “we are extremely excited and over the moon with this amazing feat.” He added that this is a historic event which deserves to be celebrated in the sports communit.

The Eswatini Chess team got first position with 10 points after the final round of 11 games. The next chess Olympiad Games will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
