ESWATINI WRITERS INVITED FOR BOOK COMPILATION IN SA

MBABANE – Grab the chance to be a published author!

Local writers have been invited to submit their short stories by a South African publisher, CEO of Macher Afrika Publishers Group, Nompumelelo Gcaba. The stories will be compiled into a book.

This was confirmed by local writer Bandile Matsenjwa, who shared with this publication that he was working with the SA publisher to get Emaswati to submit their short stories. “Emaswati can send their manuscripts to macherafrpublishers@gmail.com. This call is open until Thursday,” Matsenjwa said.

Matsenjwa went on to say: “I have a writers group, Pen That Cold Addiction, which literally grooms writers across the country and has expanded globally. So the stories will be compiled into a book. Eswatini book series as we try to explore all types of writers across Africa.”

Matsenjwa shared that the book will be launched in Eswatini and SA, Durban, on April 24, where they will have an African Literature Summit at Manzini Library, American Corner, and they hope to launch the book by then. The book will be sold both online and in hard copies, and the writers will get royalties and many more benefits as they try to unearth young, vibrant writers.

Gcaba is a published author of 19 books. She is a blogger at Ireadwhatilike, a podcaster at Unplug with Afrika Podcast, and she is also the founder and CEO of the Macher Group of companies, which has three different sectors currently: Macher Afrika Publishers, Macher Writers Programme, and M Macher Cosmetic. She holds a degree in B.com. in Accounting from the University of KwaZulu Natal.

Macher Writers Programmes each year host the annual African Literature Conference (ALC) in different countries. The event celebrates African creatives in the region hosting the conference.

This year, Eswatini will be the host country. The theme is Eswatini Literature in the Digital Age, and it will take place at Manzini Library on April 24, 2024, at 10am.
