MBABANE – Eswatini will have their first Taxi Awards dinner in October, which will be hosted by the Taxi Festival Eswatini.
This initiative is spearheaded by Creative Collabo in partnership with the Swaziland Local Transport Association.
According a statement issued by the organisation, the Taxi Festival Eswatini Awards is a first of its kind and is aimed at changing the mindset of all stakeholders in the public transport provision, recognising and motivating the key players in the public transport provider’s sector.
“Everyone at a point in time uses public transport, so what better way to motivate their service than to give back to them a well-deserved appreciation. As they are competing for these prices, we have a belief that road safety and good customer service will be promoted less accidents and overloading,” the statement said.
Swaziland Local Transport Association Secretary General Musa Dlamini confirmed the existence of such an initiative, Dlamini was of the view that this project was a good move, as it would promote their industry, in terms of visibility.
“We have well-trained staff, hence these awards will help recognise the good service providers and also motivate others to give the best service. It is a way of motivating the workers and showcasing that there is more than how people view the taxi service providers,” Dlamini explained.
The project will be launched towards the end of June and urging all relevant stakeholders to attend to discuss more about the awards as well as bid for categories. The team is also urging companies to sponsor these categories for the winners to have the best out of this project. The awards will have categories such as customer service excellence award, safety excellence award, conductor of the year, empowered woman in taxi industry and many more.
