NHLANGANO – Evelyn Baring High have been crowned Shiselweni Regional Champions after defeating Hluthi Central High School on penalties by a score line of 5-4.
This was after a gruelling tussle that left the score line deadlocked at 0-0 at the end of regulation time. The match was played today (June 07, 2024) at King Sobhuza II Stadium, in Nhlangano.
In the Shiselweni region’s semi-finals, Evelyn Baring High School humiliated Nkwene High School 4-0 in what looked like a one-sided match, showcased their prowess and determination, to book a spot in the finals. While Hluthi Central High School displayed their expertise and determination by defeating Ntjanini High School 4-1 to secure themselves a spot in the finals.
The Shiselweni Regional Champions have guaranteed themselves a spot in the tournament’s National Semi-finals with the date and venue yet to be announced, where they will battle against a Lubombo Based Ndzangu High School.
On Tuesday (June 11,2024), the Hhohho regional semi-finals of the tournament will take centre stage at Mkhuzweni Stadium, where Elangeni High School will take on Eric Rosenberg in the first semi-fimal match at 9 a.m. The second semi-final match will feature Mpofu High and Ntfonjeni High School at 11 a.m. The battle for the coveted title will take place at 2pm between both semi-final winners in the finals, to crown the champions of the region. The Hhohho regional Champions will later clash against Manzini Central High School in the National Semi-finals.
