EXAMS COUNCIL BOARD NOW IN PLACE

MBABANE – The highly anticipated board of directors of the Examinations Council of Eswatini (ECESWA) is now in place.

The board was introduced to the public today by Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo at the Ministry of Education and Training Conference Room, Mbabane. The board members include Dr Sipho Shongwe, who will chair the board. He works as an educator at the University of Eswatini (UNESWA).

Other members appointed included Welcome Mhlanga, Kidwell Nkutha, Muzi Dlamini, Dr Mandla Dlamini, and Musa Hlophe. Mhlanga is well known as President of the Eswatini Principals Association (EPA). However, he has not been appointed in that capacity in the board.

He has been appointed in his capacity as a representative of high schools in the country. He is a head teacher at SOS High School in Mbabane. Nkutha will be representing primary schools in the country and he is a head teacher at Ngwane Park Primary School in Manzini.

Muzi Dlamini, who is a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Good Shepherd Nursing College, represents higher education institutions in the country. Dr Mandla Dlamini, who is the Registrar at ECESWA, will be an ex-officio member of the board. Musa Hlophe has been appointed in his capacity as the Director of the National Curriculum Centre (NCC).

The minister also highlighted that there were people who were not present yesterday that had to be part of the board. One of them is Ministry of Finance Principal Secretary (PS) Sizakele Dlamini. Others are the Director of Education and a representative from the chamber of the Attorney General (AG).

The Ministry of Education and Training has no director of education at the moment, since the incumbent, Dr Ntombenhle Dlamini, is said to have retired. The chamber of the AG has not yet appointed anyone to represent it in the board.
