MBABANE – Your health is your wealth!

We all know getting out of bed in a chilly winter is not easy, but it is important to stay healthy. The same goes for Mr Eswatini Sive Aidan Mawelela, who believes exercising helps maintain and ensure his mental health.

Mawelela (23) keeps healthy by exercising and having a healthy diet. Speaking about his exercising habit, he said, “I exercise on weekdays and use the weekends for resting and regrouping for the upcoming week.

I exercise so that I can stay fit and healthy. Exercise also helps in maintaining and ensuring my mental health. It also helps in improving cognitive performance and weight management. When you exercise, you also strengthen your bones and muscles, which helps increase your chances of living longer.”

When asked how he motivates himself to exercise even in the winter, he said, “Well, for me to stay motivated, I do not make going to the going to the gym a requirement in my life. I like to make it look like an outing, just where I spend leisure time, so that more than anything, I enjoy it and always look forward to it. Exercising does not necessarily mean that you must use a machine or dumbbells. There are a number of workouts you can try without using machines or dumbbells.”

According to Mr Eswatini, one can also maintain health at home by doing squats, Russian twists, and jumping jacks.

He concluded by enlightening those who want to work on their weights that the major role in ensuring weight loss is 80 per cent diet and 20 per cent exercise.

Mawelela was crowned Mr Eswatini on December 16, 2023, which was held at Happy Valley Hotel. He is from Ngculwini in the Manzini Region. He attended Evelyn Baring High School and is a proud product of William Pitcher College, where he received a Diploma in Education specialising in Mathematics and Science.
