MBABANE – Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini has today done a comprehensive tour to assess the state of the Central Medical Stores as well as the Mbabane Government Hospital. During the tour, the Prime Minister has reassured the nation that Government will address gaps that lead to occasional shortage of drugs in public health facilities. This involves how “we can decentralise our health services so that there is a fair distribution of health facilities in the country.”
Speaking at the end of the tour, Prime Minister Dlamini revealed that “Following the outcry on the shortage of drugs in public hospitals, I felt it would be best to have first-hand information on the matter. We all know that drugs are key in hospitals, more than infrastructure. The Central Medical Stores is a highly sophisticated facility, and they use high technology to store and track medication. There are a lot of drugs on stock.”
“I also noted the expansions currently taking place at the Medical Stores. The security system is also water-tight. The same goes for the Mbabane Government Hospital; I noted that Government has really improved in terms of healthcare provision. However, I also noted that in some areas, we need to improve. We will work together with the Ministry to see how some issues can be addressed,” remarked the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Dlamini added that, “It is important for the Nation to have access to medication at all times. It is also worth mentioning that we have some of the best hospital facilities in the country, even better than some private hospitals. Our facilities are, however, under pressure due to the high volume of patients.”
