MBABANE – “His Majesty lamented about Gender-Based Violence”.

These were the words of the newly sword Deputy Prime Minister Thuli Dladla when speaking to the media at the Private and Cabinet Offices in Mbabane today.

The DPM emphasised the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is a top priority for the 12th Parliament of the Kingdom of Eswatini.

“We need to meet with all stakeholders who work with issues of violence, and create an action plan going forward. Together, we will be able to come up with something so that it is at least addressed,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

She noted that the underlying causes have been identified through studies by different stakeholders, including the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, the Swaziland Action Group Against Abuse, and the United Nations.

“The rest will follow. Emaswati spoke at Sibaya, so one will get hold of the submission areas and identify the areas which need our attention,” added the Deputy Prime Minister.

She added that it was most important that members of the cabinet cooperate in fulfilling their mandate as they work on the country’s issues, including GBV.

“We have to work as a collective as the Cabinet, no one can claim the Department as theirs, and so we have to instil that in everyone,” said the DPM.

“We are expected to deliver, and that we have to do,” she concluded.
