MBABANE – The Eswatini Finance Development Corporation (FINCORP) is happy to be given an opportunity to open its platform for students from the University of Eswatini (UNESWA).

The financial institution was given that opportunity by UNESWA during the UNESWA Commerce Indaba-Career Fair 2024, which was held today at the Kwaluseni Campus of UNESWA. The event was graced by officials from FINCORP and UNESWA and was opened by UNESWA Vice-Chancellor Professor Justice Thwala.

Because of the success of the event, FINCORP took to its Facebook page to highlight its happiness about the impact made by this event on the UNESWA students. “The UNESWA Commerce Indaba-Career Fair 2024 proved to be an incredible platform for us to assist students in understanding the vast scope of career options within the FINCORP Group,” said part of the statement posted by FINCORP.

According to FINCORP, interacting with the ambitious UNESWA students was a reminder of the immense potential they had. It was also a reminder, according to FINCORP, of why UNESWA students’ growth should be supported. According to this institution, the students had to be given all the necessary resources to help them grow and be successful in their different careers.

FINCORP thanked the learning institution for organisation such an event. FINCORP was launched by His Majesty King Mswati III in November 1995, with the main objective of economically developing Emaswati through the provision of accessible financial services. FINCORP is a registered private corporate with two shareholders namely, The Government of Eswatini and Tibiyo Taka Ngwane with shares of 80 percent and 20 percent, respectively.

FINCORP continues to fulfil its mandate as commissioned by His Majesty King, which is to empower Eswatini citizens through the provision of meaningful access to credit, job creation and poverty alleviation. FINCORP has, to date, provided access to financial services to thousands of Small and Medium Enterprises and individuals across all economic sectors which make a meaningful contribution to economic growth.

Entrepreneurs both in Nation Land (NL) and Title Deed Land (TDL) continue to receive financial assistance to start up new businesses and expand existing ones. A significant proportion of FINCORP’s loan book represents agribusiness activities mostly situated in rural areas. Statistics have shown that the agricultural sector offers enormous job opportunities to the general population throughout the country. Other major sectors include trucking & haulage, forestry, and general business covering trade, retail, manufacturing, construction and services.

FINCORP in recent years diversified its product offering by setting up two subsidiary companies, namely, First Finance Company offering general-purpose finance and Finsure Insurance Brokers offering Insurance Products underwritten by local insurance companies.
