MBABANE – Minister of Commerce, Industry & Trade Manqoba Khumalo has officially opened the first ever COMESA Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB) Annual Southern Sub-Regional Summit held in Eswatini from 28-30 April. COMFWB is a forum for the exchange of ideas & experience among women entrepreneurs in the region.
Minister Khumalo said that COMFWB in collaboration with His Majesty’s Government, aims at promoting programmes that integrate women into trade and development activities in Eastern and Southern Africa: in particular, in the fields of industry, trade and services, agriculture, fishing, energy, transport and communications, natural resources and mining.
He added that the main objective is improving the economic conditions of women in the sub-region as well as increasing the awareness of women in development and business issues at the policy level.
“The Kingdom of Eswatini believes that strategic investment is key to economic growth and it is for that reason that we are tirelessly working on providing an enabling business environment to create jobs and contribute to the growth and development of the economy,” concluded Minister Khumalo.
