MBABANE– The Ministry of Foreign affairs and International Cooperation in the year 2022 and 2023 facilitated good ties with international countries, for the benefit of Eswatini.

This was revealed in their financial yearly performance report tabled in the House of Assembly.

The Eswatini High Commission in Malaysia has been able to get Malaysia’s Gryphon Import and Export (PTY) Limited who are interested in conducting a feasibility study on setting up a fertiliser manufacturing company in Eswatini.

They are looking to establish a fertiliser and agrochemicals division in the Southern African region after having successfully established one in Egypt.

Their main target market in the SADC region is Eswatini, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, Lesotho, and beyond.

There was also a 21st Political Dialogue between, the European Union and the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini.

“The Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini and the European Union (EU) successfully held the 21st Political Dialogue between the European Union and the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini on September 30, 2022. The Political Dialogue was established on the basis of the article 8 of the Cotonou Agreement,” reads the report.

The dialogue held in Mbabane covered areas including political and legislative matters; freedom of expression and access to information; human rights matters; rule of law and judicial matters; trade and economic issues; investment, business environment and development cooperation matters as well as climate change commitments.

Both parties reiterated their commitments to the shared values of their partnership. The EU pledged its continued support to development initiatives in Eswatini.

Meanwhile, the Government of Japan once again extended a generous donation of foodstuff to Eswatini’s Home-grown Feeding Pilot Programme valued at E25 million to cover 50 vulnerable rural schools.

Japan’s Pretoria-based Ambassador to Eswatini, Norio Maruyama made the donation to Eswatini’s Minister for Economic Planning and Development through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

The Ministry has continued to nurture good relations with other countries.

This has resulted in a generous donation of 170 laptops and 35 printers which were donated by the Friends of the Kingdom from South Korea.

This will help all staff to work effectively to deliver the best service to all Emaswati. The Ministry remains grateful for the gift.
