… Event already fully booked

MBABANE – When we think of hungry people, we often think about poor, undernourished individuals who are all skin and bones. But in the Bible, hunger does not just refer to physical starvation. Man, after all, does not just live by bread alone as quotes from Matthew 4:4.
This is why The Church international in Mbabane launched their monthly free breakfast for men programme.
According to a well-placed source, this is a bi-monthly (every 2 months) event with the objective to inspire and encourage men on how to follow God’s biblical pattern for manhood, spiritual growth and well-being.
This coming Saturday, which falls on September 16, 2023 all men in or near Mbabane city from all walks of life are invited to join the church. They will convene for the breakfast and word of God at the Mbabane Library Exhibition room.
“This event also helps our men network and connect with other men as there will be allocated time for conversations before and after the keynote speaker Pastor Emmanuel Dlamini, lead Pastor at The Church International Mbabane will share a biblical and men empowering message,” said the well-placed source who also forms part of the church.
The source further mentioned that, this is the second ‘REAL MEN’ breakfast event this year.
“This is a free event, no cover charge, just show up and have free breakfast which will be provided. All you need to do is let us know you are coming,” said the source.
The source further revealed that the event was already fully booked, as they received a high number of men between the ages of 19-45.
Meanwhile senior pastor Maxwell Thwala said scriptures recognize both physical and spiritual hunger. The former can be satisfied by food, while the latter can only be met by partaking in the Bread of Life Himself.
He said this was a good initiative that he would love other churches to partake in all over the country.
He said in other words, simply giving food to someone may not be enough. Sometimes, people’s needs go beyond physical nourishment. There are people who can afford to eat every kind of food in the world, but even that cannot quell the hunger in their souls.
“For some of us, food is not really a problem. Whenever we are hungry, we just open the fridge or order food online. But for millions of people around the world, being able to eat at least once a day is already a luxury,” said Thwala
Meanwhile according to a United Nations report, around 828 million people were affected by hunger in 2021 alone. Though grim, this statistic is an eye-opener. It shows how much of the world is barely hanging on just to survive every single day.
Thwala said while reading about these numbers, he cannot help but wonder: what does the Bible say about feeding the hungry?
“As it turns out, when it comes to helping the poor and feeding the hungry, the Bible is a great resource. From the old to the New Testament, there is no shortage of Biblical stories and verses about showing compassion and generosity to those who starve both physically and spiritually,” he said.
