MBABANE – In yet another swift correction of false news, the Government of Eswatini has come out to confirm that the “Free Govt Certifications” advert online is a fake.
The Government posted the correction on the official Facebook page, showing the fake advertisement. The fake advertisement features Government of Eswatini coat of arms, the Google Education Logo, and the emblems of two other organisations.
The fake advertisement claims to be offering 2700+ free courses with certification by the Government.
“The Nation is advised that this is fake,” read the post by the Government on Facebook.
Some people responded to Government’s public service announcement, saying that whoever is behind the page advertising false information should be arrested.
“Thank you for alerting us,” said another responder.
This is the second time in two weeks where Government has had to correct false information online which purports to be offering opportunities by Government. The Ministry of Agriculture recently alerted the public that a particular advertisement which claimed that the Ministry was offering funding was false.
Members of the public are advised to follow official channels which Government communicates through, and verify everything they hear from elsewhere with the official Government channels of communication.
