MBABANE – Eswatini’s Gamula Textile Factory will open soon, and more than 1000 people will be employed.
The factory will provide essential services like a clinic and cafeteria.
Earlier this year, the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, visited the Gamula and Ndzevane factory sites to assess the progress of construction. The visit was part of an initiative to gauge the readiness of these sites to support the local workforce and attract potential investors.
As stated in the Twitter post of Eswatini Government, FTM Garments, a textile firm, invested E100 million in the project, utilizing the Gamula factory shell as an expansion project.
Upon completion, the Gamula factory will be occupied by Kingsgate Clothing, a textile company with existing factories in Buhleni and Siphofaneni. Similarly, the Ndzevane factory shell will be occupied by Sigma Clothing.
This development signifies a crucial step in Eswatini’s industrial growth, promising significant employment opportunities and economic progress for the region. The opening of the Gamula Textile Factory is anticipated to play a pivotal role in enhancing the nation’s industrial landscape and providing jobs for the local population.
