MBABANE – Close to half a million of Emaswati will now have surgical masks
after the German Ministry of Health donated extended its giving hand to the
kingdom of Eswatini.
The German government, through the World Health Organisation (WHO), on
Monday donated 462 000 surgical masks worth over E2 million.
When receiving the masks, Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi expressed
government’s sincere gratitude to the German Ministry of Health for this donation
as Eswatini continue to fight the spread of COVID-19. “Despite how difficult this pandemic has been to everyone, your generosity and
dedication is inspiring,” said the minister.
German representative Liesel Toepfer said, “Emergency situations such as the
COVID-19 pandemic can only be managed & overcome by all of us, working
together. No country in the world can fight this alone, therefore supporting our
partners during this time is a high priority.”
Meanwhile, WHO Representative Dr Kevin Makadzange said wearing a mask is
one of the most significant Infection Prevention and Control measures we can
practice to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
