Farmers who have not registered and are interested in the Global Gap Certificate will be glad to learn that the period for registration has been extended to May 31 2024.
The deadline was initially set for April 30, 2024 and the registration is done by the National Agricultural Marketing Board (NAMBoard).
The Global Gap Certificate is an internationally recognised certificate standard that ensures good agricultural practices. It acts as a safeguard for food safety, farmer’s health and safety, animal welfare and environmental protection.
The certification opens valuable expansion opportunities to large and small producers and helps satisfy the advanced food safety and sustainability specifications of retailers and major buyers in the worldwide marketplace.
NAMBoard is committed to support local farmers by providing them with support and training to meet the Global Gap requirement. According to the NAMBoard statement, a training plan which will include dates and venues will be shared only with registered farmers once registration has been closed. The trainings will be conducted by the organization at no cost to the farmer and after these trainings, qualifying farmers will be certified under the Global Gap.
