MBABANE– South African reality TV star, Businesswoman, DJ, and Traditional Healer Gogo Skhotheni and DJ YeKa will be one of the headliners at the Matamza and Friends show, which will be held on Friday at Ekhayeni Chillaz.
Gogo Skhotheni, born Patricia Tumi Motsoeneng, boasts 678 000 followers on Instagram and 342 000 on Facebook. She is also the founder and CEO of a podcast, @the_venting_podcast.
South African DJ YeKa, born Mpo Yeka Selepe, is an award-winning DJ who specialises in the Amapiano genre.
When reached for comment, Thamsanqa Zwane, aka Matamza, shared with this publication that this is not his first show; as he had the last one in 2022, he only featured local DJs. He said, “This year I wanted something different. I decided to invite Gogo Skhotheni and DJ YeKa, as previously I only had local DJs on the line-up.
Matamza recently landed an ambassadorship gig with Lengana, a South African gin, which will also sponsor the show on Friday.
On the line-up are DJ Zulu, Sgitha, The Bishops, Sbu De Drum DJ, Bavarah, Tilungu,Mixmash, Black Pearl, Fantacy, Expo and Drum Rhythm, and Ekhayeni resident DJs.
Tickets to the show cost E50 before 10 p.m. and E80 after. VVIP costs E150, which includes mingling and taking pictures with Gogo Skhotheni and DJ YeKa.
Matamza is a SWAMA Award-winning DJ for 2021 and 2022. He is signed under the Mega Sound Stable.
Matamza was born in Hluthi (KaMziki) but stayed in Big Bend for almost all his life. He shared with this publication that he became a DJ in 2011. His mentor was DJ Cash (Ndunduzo Dlamini).
In a previous interview, he shared that he got the ambassadorship gig after meeting a lady in South Africa last month after a successful business meeting. The DJ explained that the role of being an ambassador is to stay up-to-date with trends in the industry, generate reports for the said product or company, and market them.
He has shared the stage with South African artists, namely DJ Tira, AKA, Daliwonga,Kabza Ga Small, Maphorisa, Boohle, and Ami Faku.
