EZULWINI – This is not a joke!

Fresh from selling out “Love & Laughter,” their first show for the year, at the Sibane Sami Hotel recently, the enterprising stand-up comedy pair of Gogo Eswatini and S’lwane will have their one-man show, which will be held on May 3 at the Happy Valley Hotel. The show is expected to kick off at 7pm.

This was confirmed by the comedians’ manager, Philani Mpanza. He said: “The show will be filmed and curated to be an at least two-hour unhinged feast of never-before-experienced stand-up comedy in Eswatini. The duo will on the night deliver an exclusive and never-to-be-performed-again script developed strictly for the night in a programme to be headlined by them alone.”

Dubbed “Gogo Eswatini and S’lwane: Live & Unhinged,” the show will be curated to celebrate five years as a collective and a brotherhood of creatives for the duo. It will also, in part, celebrate some of the milestones the duo has recorded, from the consistently viral TikTok content to the back-to-back bookings in and out of Eswatini, right up to some of Eswatini’s most inspiring brand endorsements. Importantly, the duo will seek to do all this with and for the community of patrons who have been the backbone of their work and the main reason the duo has gone out to dish their best content, events, performances, or programme direction.

Gogo Eswatini and S’lwane initially met in November 2019 as co-creators and performers in the once trail-blazing comic content and stand-up comedy collective, The Merchants of Bottomless, which they anchored alongside the late Smallz the Comedian. As a collective, they went on to produce a record 23 consecutive sold-out shows in and out of the country, in addition to bagging even more mouth-watering endorsements from some of the Kingdom’s corporate whose-who’s.

What is also worth mentioning is that the show will be an annual concept dedicated to celebrating everything and everyone the duo has been about since inception.

“Our dearly beloved community of patrons has yearned and yearned for this—to a point where we can no longer ignore the cries. So, on this one-of-a-kind night for Eswatini’s comedy industry, we want to invite all of Eswatini to be part of history. We invite emaSwati to glam up for TV and come all out for what we believe will go down as the most important night for Eswatini’s comedy industry. Gogo and I are already hard at work writing our script for this night, and by the look of things, we will need an ambulance on sight for the jaws that will be broken by the laughter we intend to induce on the night. For the first time, we will have a camera crew that will be filming everything, so that on its own must be a sight for what we have up our sleeves.” commented Slwane.

“Aw’, njengoba asashito umfana waGogo nebakitsi, kutawuba njalo, nabo kuwe bunandzi eSwatini! Siwatuse onkhe emaSwati kutsi angaphutselwa ngalobu busuku—kutawube kufinywa ngengcosa mahlaya. Sita nalankha akanokusho. (As my ‘grandson’ has put it, it will be fun for all Emaswati and we invite them to come in their numbers and they should prepare to laugh for the duration of the show). As we finalise all information, which we will announce khona lana (here), may all of Eswatini be ready for this night,” concurred Gogo Eswatini.

Tickets to the show are available at all Ocean and Basket nationally (E100 General and E180 VIP).
