MBABANE– The U.S Government has supported the conversion of an existing ward at the Good Shepherd Hospital into an existing High Care Unit.
The USAID program Accelerating Development against Pandemic Threats (ADAPT) funded the establishment of a three-bed High Dependency Unit (HDU) at Good Shepherd Mission Hospital.
The USAID High Care Unit Handover and Graduation Ceremony happened last Friday.
The ADAPT project has also provided a dedicated oxygen supply for critically ill patients and all the equipment needed for high-dependency patient care.
This means that Good Shepherd Hospital now has an HDU on par with global standards with new state-of-the-art equipment. Two similar HDUs have been established at Hlathikhulu and Pigg’s Peak hospitals and a fourth large HDU is planned for the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital.
