MBABANE-The rainy weather could not stop the enthusiasm of the trainees to attend training class after receiving new equipment.
The equipment was given to the hospital by the Technical Mission of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on Monday.
The training included the use of equipment operation and maintenance protocol of CTG (Cardiotocography), CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), and Portable Ultrasound machine in hopes to help the trainees to use the equipment more effectively and prolong the equipment use.
Nurse Manager at Good Shepherd Jerry Simelane said that the most important thing was that patients will benefit from the equipment.
“The most important thing is that patients will benefit from it and be able to receive better care. There were 14 participants, including nurses and bio-meds who joined the course.
“Through PowerPoint and hands-on exercises, each participant was able to comprehend the significance of equipment maintenance and to remind clinical staff how to keep the equipment in use for a longer period of time,” said Simelane.
A trainee nurse at Good Shepard, Thando Tsabedze expressed her gratitude.
“We are all grateful for the new equipment and learning how to use them effectively. We feel so motivated to keep working,” said Tsabedze.
Lungelo Ndlandla said that after the course they were also provided documents.
“We received documents after the course and I hope I will be able to incorporate the equipment maintenance process into the local pre-service training so that the new staff can get on track faster,” said Ndlandla.
