GOOD START FOR FIGAREIDO’S RICHARDS BAY IN PSL PLAY-OFFS

MBABANE – International star, Justice Figareido team, Richards Bay are eager to secure their Premier Soccer League (PSL) DStv Premiership status.

This comes after a good start in the PSL Play-offs, beating University of Pretoria 1-0 in the first game on Wednesday afternoon. The winner of the three teams log taking part in the play-offs will book a spot in the DStv Premiership for the 2024/ 25 season.

Figareido who was part of the national team, Sihlangu 26 players called up by Coach Dominic Kunene was excused from the national duties to give him time to be with his club for the play-offs that ends June 19.

He is set to join the squad for the COSAFA Cup. He is the only liSwati that was playing in the DStv Premierships. Other international players are Zambia’s Zesco United Lindo Mkhontfo, Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy’s Mxolisi Mkhontfo and Botswana Police XI Banele ‘Stiga’ Ndzabandzaba.

The former Denver Sundowns forward did not play part in the win at King Zwelithini Stadium as he was an unused substitute.

Richards Bay finished 15th in the 16 teams Premiership and they will have to beat both University of Pretoria and Baroka to retain their position in the top flight if they can finish on top of the log in the playoffs.

Richards Bay will play their second match against Baroka on Sunday at Global Stadium.
