MBABANE–  The Eswatini Government, through Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Themba Nhlanganiso Masuku, has called for the inclusion of Taiwan in United Nations (UN) affairs.

He was speaking at the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in New York where a celebration of women in Technology was held.

Masuku said from the event, they hoped to learn more from some of the best practices of Taiwan Women and girls who are in the tech space that Eswatini can also adopt for women and girls in Eswatini.

“Our appreciation is extended to the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office for inviting us to this event. This is further testimony of the brotherhood that the Kingdom of Eswatini enjoys with Taiwan.

“The exclusion of Taiwan in UN affairs is unfair and unjustifiable.  It is for this reason that the Kingdom of Eswatini will always support Taiwan’s call for readmission as a member of the United Nations family,” he said.

Worth noting is that  Masuku attended the official opening of the 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the UN Headquarters in New York, United States of America (USA).

The meeting is attended by UN Member States and has been officially opened by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Masuku is expected to join a Ministerial roundtable on the priority theme: ‘Good practices in addressing barriers to breach the gender digital divide and promote education in the digital age to achieve gender equality.
