GOVERNMENT COMMITS E40 MILLION FOR CLASSROOM CONSTRUCTION

MBABANE – Eswatini government has committed over E40 million for the construction of classrooms in schools countrywide.

This initiative is set to benefit at least over 4 600 pupils throughout the Kingdom of Eswatini.

This publication has gathered that government, in collaboration with the Microprojects Programme Coordinating Unit (MPCU), aims to construct the classrooms in primary, secondary, and high schools.

The construction will help provide the schools with the classes they need to educate pupils in various regions of Eswatini.

According to a report released by the MPCU, the committed budget for all the classrooms is E40 650 000.

It is stated that currently there are six classrooms under construction in the Hhohho region with a budget of E5 450 000 benefiting 837 pupils.

In Manzini region, there are 13 classrooms under construction with a budget of E13 050 000 which will benefit 2 300 pupils.

In Lubombo, seven classrooms are under construction with a budget of E4 950 000 and will benefit 800 pupils.

Meanwhile, 15 classrooms are under construction in the Shiselweni region with a budget of E17 200 000 and will benefit 2 671 pupils.

Government has reported in its 2022/2023 financial year, a total of 141 classrooms were constructed throughout Eswatini.

Currently, 41 classrooms are still ongoing construction.
