MBABANE– The Government of Eswatini is not involved in the hiring of foreign mercenaries.
This is according to a statement that was sent out by Government Spokesperson Alpheus Nxumalo in a statement that was addressing false reports on government sponsored hitmen.
Nxumalo said the government wished to strongly refute the false information currently circulating across Social Media platforms with regards to the alleged involvement in Eswatini of Government-hired foreign ‘hitmen’ and
‘Mercenaries’.
“Ordinarily, Government is not in the habit of addressing State security matters as this is highly classified information that may be detrimental to national security. However, in this case, the Government is compelled to respond in order to dispel the circulating rumours.
“Government therefore assures the Nation that no hitmen have been hired to attack emaSwati. Any sentiments to the contrary have no basis whatsoever and should be rejected by all peace-loving emaSwati,” explained Nxumalo.
The statement was released this morning, following an audio where Nxumalo was addressing the alleged rumours.
