MBABANE – The Government of Eswatini has expressed delight about the relationship it has with the German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation (DGRV) that is in Germany.
Minister of Commerce Industry and Trade Mancoba Khumalo said this during a meeting with DGRV Director Veit H. Gesenhues yesterday (Thursday, May 16, 2024) at Cabinet offices.
DGRV is National apex organisation and top level auditing confederation of the cooperative sector in Germany that is engaged in internal development.
Minister Khumalo said they were pleased to announce that DGRV’s presence in Eswatini has been made possible through the generous funding provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
He said since 2020, DGRV had partial offices in Eswatini, win one employee. He said Government was excited to announce that there are plans to establish a permanent office from 2024 that will have increased employees including international representatives.
He further stated that the financial commitment of DGRV in Eswatini has been substantial, with approximately E26 million invested in various initiatives since 2014. He concluded that looking ahead, there is a proposed budget of around E30 million for the years 2025-2027 is contingent upon the approval of the German Government (BMZ), which will enable DGRV to continue their work in the region.
