MBABANE – Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi has today met with International Labour Organization (ILO) Director Dr Joni Musabayana and his delegation. This was reported through official Government media.
Issues they discussed include child labour, occupational health and safety, mapping the skills architecture in Eswatini, training provided for the tripartite teams, review of the lndustrial Training Act, and Restructuring the Labour unit of Eswatini.
Addressing the meeting, Minister Phila Buthelezi said, “We are grateful that the ILO team met with all social partners and gave them confidence. Government is exploring ways to address the issue of unemployment. We would like to thank the ILO team for updating the Ministry on what needs to be done and for your continued support to projects and programmes such as Labour Migration and Social Security.”
ILO Director Joni Musabayana also assured the Minister of the ILO’s commitment to Eswatini. “Thank you for having us, Minister, and be assured that the International Labour Organization team will work with you and the entire country in advancing the country’s labour legislation and holistically promoting the decent work agenda in Eswatini,” said Director Musabayana.
