MBABANE– Kudos!
The Government of Eswatini this afternoon commended the members of the public for openly rebuking and defying calls for the national shutdown.
Government expressed itself through a statement compiled by Government Spokesperson Alpheus Nxumalo saying there were normal preparations today.
“Government would like to commend members of the public for openly rebuking and defying calls for a so-called national shutdown from certain individuals and pocket groups of people.
“As Government had promised, through Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Themba N. Masuku on Tuesda, April 11, 2023, that Wednesday, April 12, 2023 would be a normal day, indeed this was what obtained on the ground.
“We applaud public transport operators for keeping true to their word; that there would be no disruption of public transport services throughout the day. Government also recognises the important role played by our national security services, who have once again successfully maintained peace and security across all the four regions of the country,” said Nxumalo.
The Government Spokesperson further said they encouraged emaSwati to continue to outwardly reject any and all plans that were meant to disrupt livelihoods and were of no benefit to anyone.
“We have only one country and it is up to all of us to ferociously protect it against any elements that are meant to destabilise it.”
