MBABANE– Easter services are not banned!

Government Spokesperson Alpheus Nxumalo has come out to clear the allegations making rounds on social media that His Majesty King Mswati III prohibited churches from hosting Easter Services.

Nxumalo held a press conference refuting the claims earlier today.

“Following reports on newspapers, which some of you have seen, I have been requested by the Minister of Home Affairs Her Royal Highness Princess Lindiwe to apologise for the miscommunication.

“We have seen the media running reports that His Majesty King Mswati III said Easter Services should not be announced and held. It is not the first time for Their Majesties to host Easter Services as they are hosted every year. There has never been a year where it was commanded that services should not be held during Easter holidays,” explained Nxumalo.

He further said it was rather fact that Their Majesties had announced the National Easter Services as it was the right and Christian thing to do as the King would be present.

“Here in Eswatini, as people may know, we announce all National Celebrations, including the Reed Dance, Incwala Ceremony, and others. We have never said who went for other services has broken any rule,” said Nxumalo.
