GOVT SPENT E21.53 BILLION IN 2022/23 FINANCIAL YEAR

MBABANE – If you want to know how much government spent in the previous financial year, read this.

Government Accounting System reflects that a sum of E21.5 billion was spent in the financial year that ended on 31st March 2023.

The exact amount is E21 529 766 713.68

This information is contained in the Financial Audit Report on the Consolidated Government Accounts of Eswatini for the Financial Year that ended on March 31, 2023. The report was released in Parliament on Monday and is yet to be debated by parliamentarians.

The report states that the recurrent expenditure was E18 854 945 686.48 while Capital Expenditure was E2 674 821 027.20.

It is reflected that E7.6 billion of government expenditure went to personnel costs while a whooping E6.2 billion got channeled to internal grants and subsidies. A sum of E2.6 billion went to Capital projects while E1.4 billion to public debt.
